Between meetings, the board runs the corporation, sets policy and programs, and manages funds. Constitution and bylaws set how many directors there are, how they are chosen, how vacancies are filled, and how long they serve, but there must be at least 10 directors. Officers include commander; vice commanders; chaplain; adjutant/quartermaster; judge advocate; inspector; surgeon; historian; and aides‑de‑camp. Election, terms, and duties follow the constitution and bylaws.
