The corporation must follow its bylaws and articles and pursue nine purposes. These include encouraging love of the United States and the flag; defending the Constitution and the U.S. Government; supporting military forces adequate to defend the country; protecting the honor and standing of the Armed Forces and ties among service branches; helping members, their children, families, and survivors; backing laws for fair treatment of service members (including the National Guard and Reserves, military retirees, family members, survivors, and veterans); and encouraging recruitment and appointments to the Armed Forces.
