Summary

The Attorney General can give a grant to a qualified nonprofit to help oversee the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee and each national governing body to protect amateur athletes from emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. To get a grant, a nonprofit must apply and show it has nationally recognized expertise in preventing and investigating such abuse and can do regular and random audits to make sure prevention policies are followed. Grant money can pay to create and test training, cover staff, travel, equipment, and printing, share safety information with sports groups, and run the audits. Congress provided $2,500,000 for each fiscal year 2018 through 2022, and the money stays available until spent.
