The corporation exists to protect the basic truths and lasting principles the Nation was founded on and to serve the community, State, and Nation so the country stays whole, strong, and free. It works to fight prejudice, ignorance, and disease; to promote voting and informed citizenship; to support peace among nations; and to develop the Nation’s human, mental, spiritual, and economic resources. It also helps veterans, especially disabled veterans of World War II, the Korean conflict, and the Vietnam era, by creating assistance facilities, representing them in claims before the Department of Veterans Affairs and others at no cost, keeping comrade ties, and honoring the fallen with living memorials like educational, cultural, and recreational facilities.
