The Foundation will be treated like a private corporation under a 1964 federal audit law (approved August 30, 1964). The HHS Inspector General and the U.S. Comptroller General can look at the Foundation’s financial and other records if they give reasonable notice. The Foundation must send the Secretary and Congress a report no later than 60 days after each fiscal year ends. The report must describe its activities and give a full statement of receipts, spending, and investments. The law also says the Foundation must not act against its stated purposes or refuse to carry out its legal duties.
