Band leaders get specific military allowances based on their service and job. The Army Band leader gets the same allowances as an Army captain. The United States Navy Band leader gets the allowances of a Navy lieutenant. A Marine appointed director or assistant director of the United States Marine Corps Band under section 8287 of title 10 receives only the allowances of the officer grade in which they serve, but not less than what they had when appointed. The Naval Academy Band leader gets the pay grade the Secretary of the Navy sets under section 207(e), and the second leader gets the allowances of a W-1 warrant officer. The Coast Guard Band director gets the allowances of the officer grade they serve in, but not less than what they had at appointment.
