Title 38 › Part PART II— - GENERAL BENEFITS › Chapter CHAPTER 17— - HOSPITAL, NURSING HOME, DOMICILIARY, AND MEDICAL CARE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - HOSPITAL, NURSING HOME, OR DOMICILIARY CARE AND MEDICAL TREATMENT › § 1720E
The Secretary can give a veteran a medical exam, hospital care, medical services, and nursing home care when needed to treat any head or neck cancer that may be linked to nasopharyngeal radium irradiation received during active military, naval, air, or space service. The Secretary must base that care on service records showing the irradiation, but can provide care without those records for veterans who served as aviators before the end of the Korean conflict or who had submarine training in active naval service before January 1, 1965.
