Title 38 › Part PART II— - GENERAL BENEFITS › Chapter CHAPTER 19— - INSURANCE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - NATIONAL SERVICE LIFE INSURANCE › § 1919
The National Service Life Insurance fund stays in place. Money from the U.S. Treasury can be provided, as needed, to pay claims and benefits under this chapter and the National Service Life Insurance Act of 1940 and related laws. Payments must follow awards made by the Secretary. Premiums already paid or paid in the future for insurance issued or reinstated under section 602(v)(1) of the National Service Life Insurance Act of 1940, when the usual good‑health rule was waived because of a service‑related injury or disability, must go straight into the National Service Life Insurance fund. Any benefits for that insurance must be paid directly from that fund.
