§2109 Specially adapted housing destroyed or damaged by natural disasters

Title 38 › Part PART II— - GENERAL BENEFITS › Chapter CHAPTER 21— - SPECIALLY ADAPTED HOUSING FOR DISABLED VETERANS › § 2109

Summary

The VA can give extra help to a veteran whose specially adapted home was destroyed or badly damaged by a natural or other disaster. The help can pay to get a suitable house with the special fixtures or movable equipment the veteran needs and the land for it. It counts as if the veteran had never gotten a prior grant and does not reduce their remaining entitlement. The amount cannot be more than the smaller of: the reasonable cost to repair or replace the home beyond any insurance payments, or the maximum aid the veteran would have been entitled to under sections 2101(a), 2101(b), and 2102A if they had not received earlier assistance.
