Title 38 › Part PART III— - READJUSTMENT AND RELATED BENEFITS › Chapter CHAPTER 35— - SURVIVORS’ AND DEPENDENTS’ EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER VI— - MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS › § 3562
If an eligible person over 18 starts an education or special restorative training program under this law, they cannot later get VA payments (like compensation, dependency and indemnity compensation, or pension) that would be paid because they are attending school after a parent's death. It also prevents any higher or extra payments to the parent's compensation or pension because of that person, whether the parent's benefit is from death or from total permanent disability.
