A written agreement with that department or agency is required. The agreement must say how costs are paid, either up front or by reimbursement. When a servicemember leaves active duty, the Secretary of Defense must give the Secretary information about any registered apprenticeship the person did while on duty. The Secretary and the Secretary of Labor must help states and private groups give credit for that apprenticeship if the veteran enters a related civilian apprenticeship.
