If a person in the Tuition Reimbursement Program stops being a Department employee permanently assigned to a Department health‑care facility, they will not get tuition paid for the course or courses they are enrolled in. Instead of having to finish the required service, they must repay the United States the tuition paid or owed, reduced by the share of the service they already completed (days served ÷ total obligated days). Any amount owed must be paid within one year after the agreement is broken.
