Eligible schools can apply to the Secretary for grants to help them work with a hospital or medical center they are or will be linked to. The money is for running teaching and clinical projects that match the hospital’s clinical needs with the school’s ability to train health workers. It can help expand training for people like physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other new health jobs. Applications must include a plan and whatever details the Secretary asks for. A grant will be approved only if the Secretary finds that the projects will clearly improve the school’s education or training; federal funds will be added to by other money or resources; the application explains how the money will be tracked and spent; and the school will give required reports and allow access to records for checking.
