Title 40 › Subtitle SUBTITLE II— - PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND WORKS › Part PART A— - GENERAL › Chapter CHAPTER 31— - GENERAL › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - ACQUIRING LAND › § 3116
District courts must figure the interest owed on just compensation using the Federal Reserve’s weekly average one‑year Treasury yield. If the time owed is one year or less, interest runs from the date of taking using the yield for the week before that date. If it is longer, the first year uses that same yield, and each extra year uses the yield for the week before that year starts, applied to the part of the award that is more than the deposit under section 3114 plus interest already added. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts must send those weekly rates to all federal courts.
