Title 40 › Subtitle SUBTITLE II— - PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND WORKS › Part PART D— - PUBLIC BUILDINGS, GROUNDS, AND PARKS IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA › Chapter CHAPTER 81— - ADMINISTRATIVE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - JURISDICTION › § 8121
The Secretary of the Interior must stop people from wrongfully taking or using any public street, avenue, square, or reservation in the District of Columbia that is federal property. The Secretary must take back any that were taken, stop permanent buildings on reserved government land unless a law clearly allows it, and at the beginning of each session report to Congress what was done and give a full list of those properties and how and by what authority they are occupied or claimed. It does not stop lawful, temporary government use of these areas for proper government purposes.
