Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 131— - HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH AIDS › § 12908
Gives grants to pay rental help for low-income eligible people. The help can be tied to a building (project-based) or to a person (tenant-based) and, when possible, should follow the same kind of rules used under section 1437f. The housing must be decent, safe, and sanitary. People may choose to live in shared housing, and nonelderly people can get help in shared housing. The Secretary may set different shared-housing rules only when needed because shared housing for nonelderly people is different from shared housing for elderly families under section 1437f(p). Recipients must arrange for local service providers to give appropriate services to people who get help. If someone has AIDS or a related disease and needs more care than the housing can provide, the recipient must find and refer a suitable care provider. Project sponsors may use grant funds for administrative costs, subject to section 12905(g)(2) of this title.
