Summary

Breaking section 13261 can lead to money penalties. A violation can cost up to $5,000 each. If the violation is done on purpose, the fine can be up to $10,000 each. If someone knowingly and on purpose breaks it after already receiving a civil penalty for a past violation, the fine can be up to $50,000.

Title 42, §13262

(a)Whoever violates section 13261 of this title shall be subject to a civil penalty of not more than $5,000 for each violation.
(b)Whoever willfully violates section 13261 of this title shall be fined not more than $10,000 for each violation.
(c)Any person who knowingly and willfully violates section 13261 of this title after having been subjected to a civil penalty for a prior violation of section 13261 of this title shall be fined not more than $50,000.
