Summary

Money can be provided to the Federal Hospital Insurance Trust Fund each fiscal year when the Secretary says it is needed. The funds pay benefits for certain qualified railroad retirement beneficiaries (see section 426(c)) who would not be eligible for monthly insurance under section 402 if railroad service after December 31, 1936 had been counted as employment, and they also cover related extra administrative costs and any loss of interest to the Trust Fund.
