Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 148— - WINDSTORM IMPACT REDUCTION › § 15704
The Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology must set up an Advisory Committee on Windstorm Impact Reduction. The group must have 7 to 15 members who are not federal employees and who can advise on reducing windstorm damage. Members should come from research and universities, standards groups, emergency management, state and local government, and businesses such as the insurance industry. The committee must give advice on scientific and practical trends, the program’s priorities, coordination, effectiveness, and any needed changes. Members are unpaid and must report to the Director at least every 2 years. The committee does not have to file another charter after the first one until it ends on September 30, 2017. Members must recuse themselves if they have a real financial interest.
