The Secretary must tell Congress when a deadline under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act for a new or revised energy or water‑use standard is missed. The report must explain why the deadline was missed and give a plan to issue the standard quickly. The first report was due within 6 months after August 8, 2005. Every 6 months after each report, the Secretary must send a progress report until the standard is adopted.
