Make an inventory of coal on federal lands. The Secretary of the Interior, with the Secretary of Agriculture and another Secretary, must review coal studies and data to find lands where coal can be developed, note any limits on development, and, where data allow, estimate amounts of compliant coal (1.0–1.2 pounds SO2 per million Btu) and supercompliant coal (less than 1.0 pound SO2 per million Btu). The inventory had to be finished by not later than 2 years after August 8, 2005, and must be updated as new data or technology appear. The Secretary must send the inventory and each update to the House Committee on Resources and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and make them public by not later than 2 years after the effective date of this section.
