The Secretary, working with the Task Force, must give grants or make contracts with professional groups, public service groups, and government agencies to help quickly create safety codes and standards for fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen energy systems, and stationary, portable, and micro fuel cells. The Secretary must also help those groups share information and best practices through educational efforts. Congress allowed these funds: $4,000,000 for fiscal year 2006; $7,000,000 for fiscal year 2007; $8,000,000 for fiscal year 2008; $10,000,000 for fiscal year 2009; $9,000,000 for fiscal year 2010; and whatever sums are needed for each fiscal year from 2011 through 2020.
