The Director must set up an advisory committee under the Federal Advisory Committee Act to evaluate and give advice on the work done under this part. The committee must have at least 10 members with relevant experience, such as people from industry and national labs, teachers and academic experts, technology‑transfer specialists, labor groups, civil society, and other NGOs. It must include at least 3 private‑sector members (none of whom can be federal employees) and at least 1 member with strong expertise in U.S. national security and economic competitiveness. The committee will review programs, suggest strategies to meet the goals in section 19102, recommend research areas tied to U.S. societal, national, and geostrategic challenges, and work on other issues the Director assigns.
