Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 163— - RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, COMPETITION, AND INNOVATION › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE › Part Part G— - Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships › § 19109
The Director must create Translation Accelerators to speed up research, development, and getting new technology to market in key focus areas. Each Accelerator must be a partnership of two or more organizations, like a college, a business, a nonprofit, a federal agency, or another group the Director finds important. Partnerships should be at the organization level, not just between individual researchers. At least 25% of each Accelerator’s funding must come from non-Federal sources, and the Director should try to keep the number of Translation Accelerators balanced with Regional Innovation Engines. The Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships is authorized $6,500,000,000 for fiscal years 2023 through 2027 to carry out these activities and those in section 19108.
