Sets the meanings of important words used in the chapter. Commission is the Atomic Energy Commission. Community means the specific areas at Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Richland, Washington; or Los Alamos, New Mexico shown on maps kept at the Commission office, with the Oak Ridge and Richland maps approved 21 April 1955 and the Los Alamos map approved April 5, 1962. House includes the lot the house sits on. Member of a family is anyone who, on the first offering date, lives in the same home with listed relatives (including by marriage or adoption): spouse, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, children, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, or first cousins. Mortgage covers deeds of trust and other types of liens used to secure loans or the unpaid purchase price under the state law where the property is. Municipal installation covers local public service buildings and systems like schools, hospitals, police and fire, sewer and garbage, water systems, streets, libraries, parks, playgrounds, municipal buildings, and the equipment needed to run them. Occupant is a person who, on the first offering date, is allowed to live in a government-owned house under a lease or license with the Commission or its property-management contractor. Offering date is the date the property is offered for sale. Project area means the Federal area at Oak Ridge or Hanford as of August 4, 1955, or the County of Los Alamos on the date Los Alamos is added, excluding land under National Park Service control on that date. Project-connected person is someone who, on the first offering date, regularly works in the project area as a Commission or contractor employee, a U.S. or state employee (including Armed Forces), school or hospital staff, a worker for a business located there, or staff of a church or nonprofit located there. Resident is someone who, on the offering date, is either an occupant of a unit set for sale or a project-connected person with a lease to live in privately owned rental housing in the community. Utility means electrical or natural gas distribution, public transportation, or public communication systems and the equipment needed to run them. Single or single family includes each separate unit in a building that the Commission has classified as containing multiple separate single-family units under the law.
