The CDC Director can work with states to collect and report data about adverse childhood experiences using the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System, or other public-health surveys. The data can be collected every two years. The Director must encourage states to include rural areas and can give technical help to Indian Tribes that ask in writing. Congress authorized $9,000,000 for each fiscal year 2026 through 2030 to do this. Director — head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Indian Tribes — tribes as defined in 25 U.S.C. 5304.
