Summary

States may give grants to health care providers who serve a high share of medically underserved people or other special groups. Each State decides what counts as a "high share." The grant program cannot be run inside any State office that runs Medicaid (title XIX, 42 U.S.C. 1396 et seq.). No Federal or State money from Medicaid (title XIX), Medicare (title XVIII, 42 U.S.C. 1395 et seq.), or TRICARE (chapter 55 of title 10) may be used to fund the grants or to pay the program’s administrative costs.
