Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 6A— - PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES › Part Part D— - Primary Health Care › Subpart subpart viii— - bulk purchases of vaccines for certain programs › § 256d
To get certain federal health grants, contracts, or cooperative agreements, the listed groups must, if the Secretary of Health says it is appropriate, make information available about breast and cervical cancer. This applies to 10 types of programs named in the law, for example TB and STD programs, migrant and community health centers, services for homeless people and public housing residents, family planning and AIDS programs, and tribal groups under the Indian Self-Determination Act. Those groups can choose who should get the information. They may teach about breast self-exams and how to do them. They must give the information in the language and cultural style that fits the people they serve. They must also refer people, when appropriate, for screening, treatment, or other services.
