At least three public members must be people with autism, three must be parents or legal guardians of people with autism, and three must represent research, advocacy, or service organizations. Public members serve 4‑year terms and may be reappointed once. The Secretary must give administrative support. The committee must meet at least twice a year, hold public meetings with time for public questions, may form subcommittees, and ends on September 30, 2029.
