The Institute must have an Associate Director for Prevention to lead its cancer prevention work. The Institute Director appoints that person, who must be an expert in public health or preventive medicine because of their training or experience. Every two years, that Associate Director must write a description of the Institute’s prevention activities for the report under section 284b. The description must state what prevention work is done and what staff and resources are used.
