The Secretary must make sure training programs produce enough allied health workers, nurses, and paramedical staff to care for older people. The Institute’s Director must do research to measure how HHS programs affect the biological, medical, social, and psychological parts of aging. The Director must also run public education to share research and aging information widely so older and near‑older people and all Americans can understand and cope with aging. The Director must give grants to public or private nonprofit groups to study Alzheimer’s disease.
