The Secretary must give grants to support training in medical library science and other health information fields. Grants can pay for: people to do fellowships or other advanced, after-college degree training; current librarians or health information specialists to get intensive training or retraining, including computer and data skills; public or private nonprofit schools to create or improve training programs; and internships in established medical libraries that meet standards the Secretary sets.
