The Secretary may give Visiting Scientist Awards to outstanding scientists who agree to work at colleges or universities that have many disadvantaged students. The awards let local faculty and students use visiting scientists’ expertise for help with research, teaching, and course development in the biomedical and behavioral sciences and related areas. Each award will include pay like the salary the scientist would have gotten from their regular or most recent institution. The Secretary will write the rules about who can get awards and the terms.
