The Health and Human Services Secretary can give grants to nonprofit groups that work on addiction and that help patients and families. Grants can pay to grow resource centers with trained staff who give emotional support, help finding treatment, short assessments, medicine and overdose prevention education, peer and grief support, and case management; improve health IT for prevention and to help underserved areas; produce clear, evidence-based treatment and recovery information for families and partners like police; provide training and technical help to governments, health systems, law enforcement, and researchers; and evaluate programs.
