The school must explain the yearly and total borrowing limits; when repayment starts and the longest time allowed to repay; the interest rate and the smallest monthly payment; any extra fees; options like deferral, cancellation, prepayment, consolidation, or refinancing; what counts as default and the consequences (including credit reporting); how taking the loan may affect other student aid; and what actions the Federal Government can take to collect the debt and what borrower information it may share with (A) Department of Health and Human Services staff, (B) staff of schools that have an agreement under this program with the Secretary, or (C) others helping collect the loan. Just before a student who took such a loan graduates, the school must give a statement listing each amount borrowed, the total amount borrowed, and a repayment schedule showing the number, size, and timing of payments.
