Creates an Office of Women’s Health and Gender-Based Research inside the Office of the Director. The office must be led by a director chosen by the Director of Healthcare and Research Quality. The director must tell the Director how the Agency is handling women’s health across ages, biological factors, and cultural contexts in all Agency work, such as evidence reports, clinical practice guidance, and research on patient outcomes, health care delivery, quality, and access. The office must set short- and long-term research goals, work with other Agency offices when needed, pick women’s health projects the Agency should do or fund, get input from health professionals, nonprofits, consumer and women’s health groups, and serve on the Department of Health and Human Services Coordinating Committee on Women’s Health. Funds may be provided as needed for each fiscal year 2010 through 2014.
