Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 6A— - PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XXVIII— - HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND QUALITY › Part Part B— - Incentives for the Use of Health Information Technology › § 300jj–36
The Secretary of Health, working with the head of the National Science Foundation, must help colleges or groups of colleges start or grow medical health informatics programs. These can be certificate, undergraduate, or master’s programs for health care and IT students so the U.S. health system can use and build health information technology faster and better. Help can pay for updating courses, recruiting and keeping students, buying teaching equipment (including test networks), and creating or improving bridge programs between community colleges and universities. Preference must be given to programs already in place and to programs designed to be finished in less than six months.
