Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 6A— - PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XV— - HEALTH INFORMATION AND HEALTH PROMOTION › § 300u–15
The HHS Secretary, through the CDC Director, must fund research on public health services and systems. The research must look at prevention practices (focused on areas named in the National Prevention Strategy or Healthy People 2020 and comparing community interventions for cost and effectiveness), how to move programs from academic settings into real communities, and ways to organize, pay for, and deliver public health services, including comparing state and local health departments. The work must be coordinated with the Community Preventive Services Task Force and build on federal partnerships while considering state, local, and private efforts. The Secretary must send Congress a report each year on the research activities and findings.
