Summary

States can use certain federal treatment funds to help people who have both substance use problems and mental health disorders. The money must still be used only for the allowed program purposes and the state must keep records so the spending can be tracked for accounting.

States may use funds available for treatment under section 300x and 300x–21 of this title to treat persons with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental disorders as long as funds available under such sections are used for the purposes for which they were authorized by law and can be tracked for accounting purposes.
