§3609 Education and conciliation; conferences and consultations; reports

Summary

Right after April 11, 1968, the Secretary must begin education and conciliation work to carry out this law. He must hold conferences with people in the housing industry and others to explain the law and help create voluntary compliance and enforcement plans. He may pay per diem, travel, and transportation under section 5703 of title 5. He must consult state and local officials about local housing discrimination and whether their enforcement programs can be used with or instead of his, and he must issue reports on those meetings when he finds them appropriate.
