Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 65— - NOISE CONTROL › § 4907
Federal regulators must make rules to identify products that either make noise that can harm public health or welfare or are sold for cutting down noise. For each product named, the rules must require a clear notice to buyers about the noise level it makes or how well it reduces noise. The rules will say where the notice goes, what it looks like, and which measurement methods and units to use. A separate rule about how regulations are made also applies. States and local governments may set their own labeling rules if they do not conflict with the federal rules.
