§6507 Authorization of appropriations; Federal financial assistance for increased municipal services and facilities in communities located on or near reserve resulting from authorized exploration and study activities

Summary

Congress can provide the money the Interior Department needs to carry out this chapter. If the Interior Department finds that exploration or study activities caused a sudden, large increase in need for local services and facilities in communities on or near the reserve, and that the cost would be an unfairly heavy burden for those communities, the Department can help pay those costs. The help must be given through existing federal programs and after talking with the federal agencies responsible for the kinds of services involved.
