Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 81— - ENERGY CONSERVATION AND RESOURCE RENEWAL › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - ENERGY CONSERVATION AND RENEWABLE-RESOURCE ASSISTANCE FOR EXISTING BUILDINGS › Part Part A— - Weatherization Assistance for Low-Income Persons › § 6864a
The Secretary must give money, if funds are available, to groups that already get federal or state weatherization funding. The money helps them make deals with utilities, businesses, or other partners so those partners will put in non-federal funding to pay for energy-saving work in low-income homes. The money can pay for negotiating deals, talking to state or local agencies, getting expert help, and other start-up work. At least 80% must go to non-state groups. When possible, the timing should match the weatherization funding, and recipients have up to three years to finish their projects.
