Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 84— - DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER IV— - FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION › § 7173

Summary

The Secretary and the Commission may create rules and general policies for the work the Commission does. The Commission has sole authority to handle any proposal the Secretary makes. The Commission must act quickly and follow any reasonable time limits the Secretary sets for finishing its decision. Rules about setting rates and charges under the Federal Power Act or the Natural Gas Act can be made through rulemaking. Those rulemakings must let people fully present their views. For rules about the first sale of natural gas by a producer or gatherer to a pipeline under the Natural Gas Act, the Commission may allow written questions between participants about disputed facts and set reasonable deadlines for questions and answers.
