Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 93— - EMERGENCY ENERGY CONSERVATION › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - STUDIES › § 8532
The Secretary must set up and run a data program within 60 days after November 5, 1979, to regularly track supply and demand of middle distillates at refineries, wholesalers, and retail outlets in each State. The program must quickly collect relevant data under existing law and send periodic reports to Congress with a brief analysis and state-by-state trends. Collected data must be available to Congress, to appropriate federal and state agencies under law, and to the public. The program may not set or control prices. "Middle distillate" means the same as in 10 C.F.R. 211.51 as of November 5, 1979. By December 31, 1979, the President must send Congress a report summarizing the data and analysis and addressing the matters in section 760a(d)(1) of title 15.
