Title 42 › Chapter CHAPTER 103— - COMPREHENSIVE ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSE, COMPENSATION, AND LIABILITY › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES RELEASES, LIABILITY, COMPENSATION › § 9625
Require the President to quickly change the hazard-ranking method used under the National Contingency Plan for facilities not on the National Priorities List that hold large amounts of the waste named in section 6921(b)(3)(A)(i). The new method must consider how much and how toxic the hazardous parts are, how likely they are to be released, and the risk they pose to people and the environment. Until the method is changed, the President cannot add those facilities to the List mainly because of waste volume alone, but may list a site for other dangerous substances or use other authorities for those substances.
