Title 43 › Chapter CHAPTER 31— - DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR › § 1474g
Creates a Treasury account called the Department of the Interior Nonrecurring Expenses Fund. Unused, expired discretionary money that was originally given from the Treasury’s General Fund to the Interior can be moved into this Fund, but only up to the end of the fifth fiscal year after the last year those funds were available for their original purpose. Money in the Fund stays available until it is spent. It can be used in addition to other money for modernizing information and business technology, improving buildings and infrastructure, and related administrative and one‑time maintenance costs needed for the Department or its bureaus, but uses must be approved by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). No money can be obligated without written notice to and prior approval from the House and Senate Appropriations Committees, following the Act’s reprogramming rules.
