Title 43 › Chapter CHAPTER 38— - CRUDE OIL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS › § 2006
Federal agencies that must prepare an environmental impact statement for a proposed crude oil transportation system must, as much as possible and allowed by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), use relevant data, studies, conclusions, and decisions already done by other federal or state agencies. All such environmental reports must be completed on or before December 1, 1978, put out for public review and comment, changed if needed because of those comments, and sent to the President and the Council on Environmental Quality. If a report was filed under section 2004(2), these steps may be finished no later than 60 days after December 1, 1978. After the Council on Environmental Quality receives one of these reports, it must quickly send the President a report saying what the Council thinks about the environmental statement and related environmental issues.
