Title 43 › Chapter CHAPTER 9— - DESERT-LAND ENTRIES › § 336
The Secretary of the Interior may, in addition to earlier extensions allowed by sections 333–335 or laws in effect before February 25, 1925, give a person who entered land under the desert‑land laws up to three more years to make final proof. That person must file a sworn statement with supporting evidence at the local land office showing unavoidable delays in building the irrigation works, and that the delay was not their fault. They (or their heirs or a qualified assignee) must have followed yearly spending and proof requirements and, under rules the Secretary makes, must show a reasonable chance of completing the required reclamation, irrigation, and cultivation if the extension is granted.
