Charges paid before May 25, 1926 for lands later declared permanently unproductive and excluded must be credited against charges on remaining irrigable land under the same contract or for land taken in exchange. Any excess is paid in cash to the contract holder or irrigation district, which must settle with owners. If all irrigable land is excluded and no exchange occurs, those charges, less accrued operation and maintenance, are refunded in cash, contract canceled, and liens released.
